The most important part of buying a digital camera is making sure that
the one you select meets all of your needs.

Digital Camera 101

Better digital cameras uses a chip called a "Charged Coupled Device"
(CCD) instead of film. Light enters the camera, through the open
shutter, and strikes the CCD where it is converted to digital data
before being stored in the camera's memory.

While that is the simple description, things can get pretty
complicated from there.

Megapixels & Resolution

Resolution is a measure of how many...pixels are used to make a digital
copy of an image. Pixels are tiny dots of light that make up a digital
image.

The quality of a digital camera's image is usually measured in
'Megapixels' where each megapixel represents one million pixels.

Here's how to determine how many megapixels you'll need depending upon
the type of photos you will be taking and what you intend to do with
them.

1 megapixel

Almost obsolete, you might still find these in cell phones, PDAs, and
desktop "web" cameras. They're OK if you only intend to email pictures
to other people and those people aren't going to be printing them.

1.1 to 2 megapixels

Only slightly better than the 1.0, this resolution is OK for an average
4x6 snapshot, but it isn't going to be a production quality image.

2.1 to 3 megapixels

This is the beginning of the decent camera range. You get very good 4x6
images and reasonably good 5x7 images. These cameras are low cost and
provide a good platform for beginners.

3.1 to 4 megapixels

You are qualified to say that you have a "pretty good" camera. You get
professional quality 4x6 images, real good 5x7 and 6x9 shots, and
somewhat decent, but not great 8x10 images.

4.1 to 5 megapixels and up

People will be saying "Hey, great pictures!". You can count on
professional images all the way up to 8x10's. Of course, as the
megapixel count goes up, so does the price.

If you are only going to be viewing your pictures online, such as
posting them at a photo site or using them on your web pages, keep your
money in your pocket and pick yourself up something in the 1.5 megapixel
range.

If you will be shooting pictures that will be printed at a print house,
such as for brochures, postcards, etc, then you will need at least a 5
megapixel camera if not higher. Of course, you'll also need to have a
fat wallet or a lot of open to buy on your credit card because, even
thought prices are steadily falling, these puppies aren't cheap!

Once you've solved the megapixel puzzle, the rest of a digital camera's
features, such as lens types, storage capacity and shutter speed are
pretty routine and easy to understand. You shouldn't have a problem
deciding on those features.

Speakers come in all sizes and shapes and are a good investment if you want the most out of sound . The quality of sound is determined by the watts of power they produce..ie a 100W will produce more sound quality than a 50W. The receiver is matched in wattage to correspond with the wattage of the speaker. Of all the audio components below, speakers are the most important of all so get the best you can.

3. Sub woofers increase the bass capabilities of your sound system. Not a necessity unless you like the sound of thundering explosions in an action movie. 4. Surround Sound will deliver a cinematic sound quality to your home theater, but is not an essential component.

Home Theater Mini System ("In A Box") With a mini system all you need is the TV and installation is much easier than using separate components which may require you hiring a professional. You can get a mini system with just about any feature you want to include DVD/DVR/VCR/AVR/CD, speakers, sub woofers, surround sound etc...The systems are much cheaper in cost than purchasing separate components and the drawbacks are you may be limited on what you can output if you want additional add-on such as video games,extra speakers etc. The mini home theater is basically to run the components provided in the kit and if you want to add on you may not be able to. Another drawback is you may be sacrificing superior video and sound quality for lower a price. Just like anything else there are good mini home theaters and better ones...So get the best if you go this route.

Brief History of Macbooks:
The MacBook is a line of Macintosh notebook computers by Apple Inc. that replaced the iBook G4 series and the 12" PowerBook G4. The original MacBook was built around the Intel Core Duo chip and released on May 16, 2006 (Wikipedia).

You pay for what you get
In general, macbook's are often much more expensive than the average dell laptop for $600. The problem with this is people tend to 'cheap' out on laptops...and then pay for it in the end. How do they pay for it? Slow hardware, terrible design, and absolutely unreliable technical service. One thing that gives Apple owners the edge is, Macbooks are built to last you quite a number of years with top hardware installed, not too much preinstalled software, and catchy design. Other than their sleekness, Apple has designed a laptop that has basic little designs like a magnetic A/C adaptor end to go into the Macbook so if you accidentally trip over the powercord, your Macbook doesn't going flying across the floor.

Viruses
Ok, so you're running a fairly large company and don't have an IT guy to fix and repair your computer problems. When things go wrong like Trojan Horses attacking your computer or viruses sending our spam mail from your Yahoo account, you have no where to turn to. With macs, viruses on your computer that can invade and take over your computer typically are never a problem. If you were using a PC and do not know how to fix the problems it could be days until you could get a technical repair business out to help you. Time is money, you do not want to waste it on nonsense now do you?

Wait...nooo Microsoft Office !
Something that tends to scare off potential customers of buying mac computer's is they think they will loose Microsoft office. Think again. Microsoft Office, like many other typically Windows based products run on a mac and not only run, but run flawlessly.

Two or three hours at most, try four
That's right, a $1500 macbook has a battery life of over four hours on a single charge. This is one thing I enjoy more than anything else is being able to have my mac charged within an hour and then go and eat breakfast, then work, then eat lunch, then work, and still have enough battery to keep on going. My previous Toshiba laptop was lucky if it could make an hour and 30 mins.

While many people still do not believe that Macbooks are superior for many things other than web development, they are. The only thing you have to do is try them once and your hooked , or at least I was :) . I probably will never buy another PC. People still try to use the outdated excuse that mac's aren't compatible with software. For most things the typical person is doing a Macbook is easily suitable.

One of the key factors to having a good digital camera is its shutter speed, and this is what people used to believe was the downside of a point and shoot as opposed to a SLR digital camera. But as technology has improved your standard compact camera has managed to decrease the delay of the shutter and you can now get higher quality photos. The one downside that still remains with point and shoot cameras is that when you zoom, you are not getting a lens zoom, but merely enhancing the digital image. What this means is that when you come to print the image, it can appear distorted. If this bothers you then you may have to look at using a SLR camera.

In the olden days of photography your image was on film. These days your image is on the memory card, and for that reason it is important that your memory card has enough storage for your needs, especially if you are going on vacation and will be unable to save your photos onto a PC. But, if most of your pictures are taken when you are in your home town you do not need to worry about the memory card too much as you can put them on your computer the same day that you take them. Admittedly when you first start to look into memory cards you may find it a little bit bewildering, but if you tell the person you are buying from how you intend to use the camera, they should be able to advise you on the right type of card to get. Finally, one of the last big advantages of this compared to normal photography is that if you make a mistake with the picture you are taking, you can retake the shot straight away without waiting for it to be developed and then seeing your mistake and not being able to do anything about it.

If you are new to the world of digital cameras then one of the words you are bound to have come across is megapixel. Basically for a normal point and shoot, to get good quality you want a camera with three mega pixels as a minimum. In fact though, when you go to buy your camera you will find that most point and shoots have at least 3 or 4 mega pixels anyway. Now it is possible to buy a point and shoot with a lot more mega pixels, however if your camera is just for family snaps and vacations, going after more mega pixels is not going to make that much difference, except to your wallet.

There were 157 billion text messages sent in the United States last year! That’s up 61% over the 98 billion text messages sent in 2005! There are now more cell phones in the United States than there are internet connections.

And, if you’re trying to reach teens and young adults with email, that is just so yesterday. Text messaging represents 48% of all written communication by 15 to 24-year-olds. Remember pen and paper? Only 5% of 15...to 24-year-olds written communication is done the old fashioned way.

But, perhaps the greatest advantage of text message marketing is that you can reach your audience anytime, anywhere, any place. 84% of all consumers keep their cell phone on and with them 24 hours per day and 94% of all text messages are opened and read. That’s why The New York Times called mobile marketing "the most powerful advertising medium of all time."

We all know teens love to text; 29% of teens send more than ten texts per day. But, if you think text messaging is just for teens, think again. 39% of active text message users (those sending more than ten messages per week) are over the age of 35. Even Grandma does it now--8% of those over the age of 70 are now considered active text messagers. All told, 95 million Americans are in this elite group of active text messagers today.

Another invention going the way of the typewriter is the landline phone. 15% of all cell phone owners don’t bother to have a landline phone anymore and 31% are considering giving up their home phone in the next three years.

If you’re a radio station executive and you’re not offering text messaging by now, you may still be living in the Marconi era. The beauty of text messaging to radio listeners is that since so much of radio listening is done outside of access to general media, text may be the only medium available. If they’re in their car, on the beach, or at the office, there’s probably no competition from television or internet. Hence, radio and the cell phone are the means to reaching your target audience.

What do radio listeners want to do with text messaging? According to the Pew Study, they want to request songs, enter contests, and obtain station play lists. It’s not surprising then that the top text message applications for radio stations to date have been contests, song requests and dedications, vote lines, station play lists, and enhanced advertising.

Enhanced advertising is where the game is starting to change for radio stations. What was once a promotional tool has now become a sales tool. What was once a cost center for a radio station has now become a revenue center.

94% of all text messages are opened and read. No other medium can make that claim, not even radio. That’s why forward looking radio station sales teams are now up-selling their customers with text programs. And, it’s working because the advertising works. It’s no longer just a spot buy when you add an interactive text promotion to the on-air commercial. Some account executives are getting in on buys in demos where they were once shutout. Others are gaining additional market share on the buy by bundling spot buys with a station text message campaign. Mobile marketing offers the sales team a weapon that others in the market simply don’t have.

Here’s how it works. Next time the radio station plans to give away tickets to a concert, why have 999 frustrated callers reaching busy signals and one lucky winner? With text messaging, all 1000 listeners get through to the station. There’s still only one lucky winner, but all the entrants receive the station advertiser’s marketing message. More importantly, the station now has a database of 1000 opt-in P-1 listeners.

Next time the station has breaking news or a pre-sale buy of concert tickets, it will want to notify the opt-in database, thus providing another opportunity to put your advertiser’s message into the palm of the hands of your loyal station listeners. Your advertiser’s message gets through and your P-1’s feel like VIP’s.

According to Forrester Research, 43% of US marketers will be using mobile marketing within the next year. Mobile marketing is projected to generate $4.8 billion in revenue in 2011.

Radio needs to jump on the mobile marketing train. If it doesn’t, somebody else will.

When you begin to consider... the possibility of wall mounting one of the first things that you need to know is what is behind the wall that you plan to cut in to, you don't want to drill or cut into anything in the process of mounting.

Once you've determined that you are safe to mount in your chosen location it is time to look at equipment needs for this job. Most of the flat panels that you can purchase do not come with the mounting hardware necessary for wall mounting, so you will need to purchase it separate from the television. First of all you must find and purchase an appropriate wall-mounting bracket, you should be able to check your owner's manual to determine a suitable bracket for your television. The majority of flat panel TV models are compatible with several brackets that follow the standards set by VESA. The models will have the word VESA, which will then be followed by a number that indicates a millimeter distance between mounting holes on the brackets or the TV. An example of this would be a VESA 75, which means that the four holes on the bracket are separated by 75 mm, there are also some brackets that are rectangular in shape and will have a VESA number like 100/200, which indicates that on two sides of the rectangle the holes are separated by 100mm and on the other two by 200mm.

Next on the list of importance is to ensure that the bracket you select is compatible with the screen size of your flat panel, as well as to double check that the weight capability can hold the weight of your TV. It is also important to consider what you would like the bracket to do, such as swiveling to avoid glare or for a better view from a different seat in the room. You may need to nudge the television slightly after mounting in order to assure that your view is exactly as you would like.

The ideal mounting is one where the TV screen is at about eye level to seating, you should also be aware of glare from light reflection, which will reduce the quality of your view, so be aware of these things during the mounting process.

Another aspect of the mounting is the placement of power and A/V cabling. There are ways of doing this that are quick, and ways that are more labor intensive. You can run your wires inside of the wall if you would like, but this will be the most labor intensive. Other options for wiring that avoid the in-wall labor include the use of paintable cable raceways that you can attach to the wall, or you could consider running cables underneath baseboard or molding if you have more distance to cover. Any of these options will eliminate the ugliness associated with the tangled mess of cables and cords that are often visible between your television and your entertainment cabinet.

Once you've determined the route and method of cabling you will need to figure how much of the wiring you will need. As in any situation it is better to have too much than too little, following is an example:
Running wire from receiver to wall -3 ft
Running horizontally behind the wall -7 ft
Running vertically to TV inside the wall -5 ft
Wire for wall to TV distance (with slight excess) -2 ft
Total of all measures -18 ft, adding a 15% error factor gives you approximately 21ft necessary to do the job properly.

Once you've reached this point you are basically finished, all you have to do from here is fit the two pieces of the mount, the one on the wall and the one on the back of the TV, together and your flat panel TV is successfully wall-mounted.

If you tap once and hold, a magnifying glass will pop up showing you a zoomed in view of your words and cursor. You can now easily place the cursor wherever you want. 6. You can move icons around, but not on the home screen. You have to go to the ipod section. Go to iPod > More > Edit. Now you can drag your icons all around. This can also be done in the phone section.

7. To reset your iphone, hold down the right button and the "home" front button for about 6 seconds. To power it back on, push the top button. This is different than a regular shutdown, which can be done easily by holding the sleep/wake button for 6 seconds.

8. If you get a lot of spam e-mail or other unwanted e-mail, pay attention to this time saving feature. Add a link to Yahoo mail in Safari bookmarks. From there you can check 'delete all' to remove all unwanted e-mails. This is much easier than deleting hundreds of spam e-mails one at a time.
